In case you haven't noticed, we really dig female empowerment around here.
There's something truly majestic about women supporting and empowering other women.
In a world that likes to unnecessarily glorify girl vs. girl drama, having a "collaboration over competition" mindset is the golden ticket for building and nurturing connections with other badass, mold-breaking women. It's these very relationships that help build us all up, and move us forward.
However, despite all the strides made in modern feminism, we still have a long way to go. Although most people would be quick to support equal opportunity, there still seems to be some hesitation to use the word "feminism".
Somehow, my other favorite F-word managed to pick up some baggage, and now carries a heavy stigma in some people's minds.
Well I'm here to tell you that this is bullshit.
Fuck all the negative connotations that have muddied the waters when it comes to modern day feminism. We don't need that shit up in here.
Feminism at it's core is advocating for the rights and equality of women everywhere.
Want equality? Fuck yes! Welcome to the fold.
The following is a list of epic feminist actions that you can engage in every single day to help to support and empower other women.
1. Speak Up
Sadly, a large part of the female experience is being conditioned to not rock the boat. It isn't uncommon for women to be brushed aside or interrupted, and many times this happens without protest. If you see this happening, be sure to speak up and lend your voice. It wont go unappreciated.
2. Support Female Business Owners
Statistics show that despite the barriers many women face as entrepreneurs, the number of female owned businesses is rising. One of the simplest things you can do to support women in business is to buy from them, support their growth, and mentor them if you are in the position to do so. The desire to help lift up other female business owners was a huge motivator for me when starting Boss as Fuck for Female Entrepreneurs.
3. Tune Out Girl on Girl Drama
Just because the media likes to glorify women vs. women scenarios doesn't mean you have to participate. Tune that shit out to keep your vibes high and to send the message that toxic bullshit doesn't sell.
So let's take all that negative stereotype bullshit about feminism and chuck it in the fuck-it bucket where it belongs.
Feminism is strength, empowerment and the fight for equality. All things to take proud in associating with.
