Are you familiar with our Shop for a Cause section of the store?
If you're not yet, grab your cup of coffee (or tea if your prefer) and let me tell you about it!
My goal for this company is to make people feel beautiful and confident by providing them with pieces that add that extra sparkle to their life without emptying their wallet.
I've had a lot of women tell me that their spouse, friend, coworker, etc., surprised them with one of our Be Brave & Keep Going bracelets or necklaces. And let me tell you, 9 times out of 10, I end up crying reading these stories. That something so small, a gesture, an item, can greatly affect whatever they're going through. I've heard stories from miscarriages to another round of chemo trying to kick cancers ass, to plenty of other heartfelt stories.
Knowing that these pieces touched lives already made an impact on me.
Or so I thought, until I was contacted by a lovely women asking to order about 15 of them. Of course at that high of quantity I am totally curious.
I reached out to her asking for more info, inquiring about what she was going to do with so many of these.
Never did I expect she would say what she did.
She was purchasing them for a lovely group of ladies who were off to a retreat soon and she wanted to give them some inspiration.
This woman happens to be a part of The AWP.
That's the American Widows Project.
The women who run this project are simply amazing. Its sole purpose is to benefit those who have lost a spouse in combat.
They put on retreats, workshops and more that allow these widows to connect with individuals going through the same thing, spend some time outside of their normal lives, connect, grow and have amazing & healing experiences.
How amazing is that? And she wanted to give MY bracelets to these women as a small gesture of inspiration to "Be Brave & Keep Going"
She then posted this great picture with the amazing caption below.
"There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater. But sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life. That is the sort of bravery I must have now." Veronica Roth
This sparked an idea! I could help these women. I could spread more kindness.
After reading some of their stories and connecting a little more, I thought it was perfect.
So I launched the Shop for a Cause section. The first two items available are solely for the benefit of the ladies at the AWP.
Eventually, other programs will be brought into it. However right now I wanted my main focus to be on them because I truly believe in their project.
There's 2 super fun and adorable items available. 40% of all profits from these items go directly to the AWP.
I am hoping all items will sell out so I can send one lump sum to them.
How amazing would that be?
What could be better?
Go read about their cause.
Read their stories (bring tissues).
Then come back and help support these wonderful people.
